Confused on how abaya sizes work? What do all the random numbers mean? How do I know if I am a size 52 or a 58? If you are interested in purchasing an abaya, it is important to understand how abaya sizes work, so that you can find the perfect fit for your body.

How does abaya sizing work?

Abayas are primarily sized based on the length of the garment. The size of the abaya correlates to your height in ft. If you are 5ft0, you should get a size 50, if you are 5ft2, you should get a size 52 and so on.

Below are guidelines on how to pick an abaya just for you. The abayas are made to be loose fitting and modest fit.

Does body size matter?

Our abaya sizes operate mostly according to length and while they can be worn by a range of body sizes, they typically accommodate UK size 8-14. This may change slightly for certain abayas and will be included in the description of each abaya.

Where will my size come up to?

When creating our abayas, we intend for it to reach your ankles, however you may prefer the abayas to run a little longer if you plan on wearing it with some heels, or shorter if you intend to wear it as a long cardigan. So we recommend you take this into consideration when choosing the right size for you.

Can it be tailored?

Absolutely! The abayas are finished with a simple running stitch hem which makes it easy if you need to turn it up and tailor.

What if I’m an inbetween size?

If you happen to be an ‘inbetween size’, you can wear the two surrounding abaya sizes. For example, if you are 5ft3, you can either get a 52 or a 54, if you are 5ft5, you can either get a 54 or a 56. We would typically recommend you go up one instead of down.

We offer a variety of mens thobes, ranging from our embroidered Rayan Thobes, to our silkyMoroccan Thobes. Our mens sizes start at 52 and correlates with one’s height. Please note that our Moroccan Thobes are much more loose fitting than our Emirati Thobe (including the Rayans), which are more form-fitting.
